Cliffside Park Recreation Area

Nestled along the shoreline of Whidbey Island, Cliffside overlooks the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Vancouver Island, the San Juan Islands and the Olympic Peninsula. With its awe-inspiring location, Cliffside offers the ambiance of shoreline living, an open window on an ever-changing marine environment and unparalleled sunsets.

Open year-round, Cliffside offers 20 RV sites and 7 tent sites with water and electrical hookups. Also on-site are restroom and shower facilities, an RV dump station, recyclables bins and garbage dumpster. Coin-operated laundry facilities are available on the Seaplane Base. Free Wi-Fi access is available at Whidbey Entertainment Center, approximately 3 blocks from Cliffside.

Cliffside is also a great location for command picnics, family BBQs and more. Exclusive use of Cliffside's group areas can be arranged and accommodate groups of 25 - 125.

Camping Reservations
Reservations may be made up to 6 months in advance for Active Duty, 4 months for military retirees and 2 months for all other authorized patrons. Payment can be made by phone or in person at the Nor’Wester, at NAS Whidbey Island’s Ault Field.

Cliffside can be crowded in the summertime. From May - September visitors are limited to 14 days, to allow others an opportunity to experience Cliffside’s summertime splendor. Repeat visits to the park must be 21 days apart. The rest of the year, longer stays are available, as long as availability exists.

We accept Visa and Master Card. For payments made by mail, please send check or money order, made out to MWR. Be sure to note your arrival and departure dates when making reservations.

For stays of 1 - 3 days, a one day deposit is required; for stays of 4 - 10 days, a 2 day deposit is required; for stays of 11 - 14 days, a 3 day deposit is required. Deposits go toward your stay. Full refunds will be issued if you make a cancellation 5 days prior to your stay. No refunds will be made if the cancellation is with less than 5 days notice. No refunds will be given for early departures.

Drop-in customers are welcome, but in the summertime there may be no available spaces. Reservations are recommended.

Children 12 and under must be supervised.

Pets are welcome; maximum is two per rental space. They must be kept on a leash and cleaned up after. Barking inside or outside is not tolerated.

Check-in time is 1 pm; check out time is 11 am.

***The Navy Exchange's gas station on Ault Field is currently closed during for construction and upgrades. Fuel will not be available on base during the construction. On-base fuel is still available at the Navy Exchange's Seaplane Base gas station. The Navy Exchange expects to re-open their Ault Field fuel station by Veteran's Day, with upgraded fuel systems, including diesel services. We apologize for any inconvenience as we work to provide improved services.***

Group Facilities

***Effective October 1, 2008, group reservations can be made at the Nor'Wester. The Fitness Center will no longer accept reservations for group use of the park.***

Cliffside's group facilities can accommodate groups of 25-125. The facilities available include covered picnic tables, outdoor picnic tables, and restrooms. The facility also has beach access.

Reservations for the exclusive use of this facility by a party/group for an unofficial function will be assessed the following daily fee:

Directions

To Cliffside:
From the Nor’Wester continue south along Saratoga St to the first intersection, Intruder St. Turn right. Intruder St curves left after approximately 1/4 mi. Soon after the curve, make the second right into Cliffside.

To the Nor'Wester:
From Hwy 20, north of Oak Harbor, turn onto Ault Field Rd. Enter the air station at the Charles Porter gate (first stoplight). Charles Porter is the only gate accessible to RVs. If you arrive and the gate is closed, please call (360) 257-3893 to have the gate opened for you. If calling from the black phone attached to the gate, simply dial 7-3893. Travel along Charles Porter Ave until it curves left and turns into Enterprise St, approximately 1.5 mi. from the entry gate. Almost immediately after the Enterprise St curve, turn left onto Saratoga St. The Nor'Wester will be approximately 1/4 mi. ahead on your right.
