Welcome to the Whidbey Island Navy Flying Club (WINFC), and Fraser School of Flight, where the best pilots learn to fly!

WINFC provides pilot instruction, as well as aircraft rentals to its membership. Members can earn Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial, and Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) ratings at WINFC. Member pilots may rent planes through a co-op system 24 hours a day, seven days-a-week.

Our “discovery flight” program is for anyone interested in flying; no license required. During a discovery flight, an individual shares an aircraft with a certified flight instructor and is able to take the controls and maneuver the aircraft.

Membership is available to all MWR authorized patrons. Membership is also available to active civilian members of the Civil Air Patrol.

Aircraft Instruction
Flight and ground instruction is conducted on a one-to-one basis with your assigned instructor and is available seven days a week, 24 hours a day. WINFC utilizes the Jeppesen Pilot Training Course as the main syllabus for all instruction.

You can earn a Private Pilot Certificate at the Fraser School of Flight in as little as four months at about 50 percent of the cost of local flight schools.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires 40 hours of flight time to earn a private pilot's license. Most students receive a license after approximately 55 hours. After completing FAA exams, you will enter the wonderful world of flight! The worthwhile investment will last you a lifetime.

Youth Flight Camps
Youth Flight Courses offer basic and advanced youth courses for ages 13 - 18.

The basic 4-day course introduces young people to aviation. The course includes basic ground instruction, tours of NAS Whidbey Island facilities and culminates in a local flight with an experienced flight instructor in one of the WINFC airplanes.

The advanced flight course picks up where the basic leaves off, including 12 hours of ground instruction on navigation, communications and flight planning. The course wraps up with a cross-country flight to nearby airports and the opportunity to put the knowledge to work during an actual flight.
