Teen Employment Program - Recreation Aids

Open to teens (ages 16 - 18) that are dependents of active duty, retired military, active reservists, or DoD Civilian personnel.

Seeking students who are interested in temporary employment within Fleet & Family Readiness (FFR), Morale, Welfare & Recreation (MWR), or Child & Youth Programs (CYP).

June 6, 10 am - Noon: Come to the Nor’Wester for Training on Application, Resume Writing and How to Prepare for an Interview.
June 13, 10 am - Noon: Come to the Nor’Wester for a mini job fair and interviews for the Teen Employment Program.

 

Location: Various Locations

Summary of Duties: These positions are located at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. The incumbents will be involved in one or more recreational activities such as community activities, youth activities, outdoor recreation and hobby shops, or similar Fleet & Family Readiness, MWR or CYP services or events. Responsibilities may include providing assistance in the oversight of activities and necessary services to authorized patrons, including general information and use of facility and/or equipment. Assist in the programming, planning and implementation of a variety of recurring and non-recurring activities. Incumbents ensures adherence to regulations and safety procedures and may assist assigned personnel in the monitoring of change funds, theater tickets, etc. May assist in maintaining routine reports and/or perform clerical and/or general maintenance duties as needed.

Qualifications: Must be between 16 to 18 years of age and a dependent of Active Duty Retired Military, Active Reservist, or DoD Civilian personnel. Must be able to learn MWR/CYP policies, rules and regulations involving work areas, and have the ability to communicate orally and in writing. Knowledge of basic mathematics and the purpose of recreational equipment and activities are desired.

Conditions of Employment: Physical exertion is involved in standing and walking for long periods, some bending, stooping and lifting is required. Position requires constant vigilance to ensure maximum security for youth, patrons and employees in and around the facility. Work is performed indoors and outdoors with varied work schedules and occasional weekends in accordance with the requirements of the program.
