Cashier
Location: Naval Base Kitsap Cash Cage
This position provides various cashiering duties and responsibilities in safeguarding cash and checks to support program activities. Employee privileges include access to base facilities such as gyms, recreation centers, restaurants, and discount tickets to sporting and entertainment events.
Summary of Duties: Provides various cashiering duties and responsibilities for Naval Base Kitsap (Bremerton and Bangor). Responsible for receiving and verifying daily cash receipts and assuring accuracy of bank deposit receipt. Maintains a central change fund. Responsible for verification and replenishing of change fund as required. Maintain Tidel change fund machines. Responsible for assuring accuracy in replenishing of funds. Investigates discrepancies and makes recommendation to correct such discrepancies. Prepares and issues change funds as required. Travels to the banking facility to deposit receipts. Travels to other Fleet Readiness facilities to collect daily receipts. Performs computer data input into Systems and Accounting Procedures accounting system. Maintains financial and accounting subject files in the office. Performs other office clerical duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age and possess high school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of the generally accepted accounting procedures, rules and regulations in safeguarding cash and other assets in order to conduct and examine the validity of the cash transactions. Ability to operate office machines such as calculator, cash register and computer. Must have minimum of 6 months experience as a cashier. Must be able to lift heavy suitcase in and out of a vehicle. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must successfully pass a formal background check and maintain eligibility for a position of trust.
Conditions of Employment: It is primarily sedentary and requires long periods of sitting when verifying cash and counting funds. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, bending and kneeling to transport funds and fill Tidel machines.
