Human Resource Assistant

Location: Fleet & Family Readiness Programs - Service Center (Keyport, WA)

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Boost your career in human resources. Gain valuable experience in recruiting, screening and evaluating applications, processing new employees, and processing recurring personnel actions for the Region. This position supports hiring of non-appropriated fund (NAF) federal employees for child care, food service, hospitality, social services, recreation and fitness throughout Navy Region Northwest, including NS Everett, NAS Whidbey Island, and Naval Base Kitsap.  This position will be part of our Keyport support team but serve as primary point of contact for our NAS Whidbey employees.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Qualified candidate must have at least two years personnel experience including strong experience in recruiting and applicant screening, staffing principles and employment practices.  Knowledge of NAF organizations, personnel regulations, principles and concepts is desired.  Skill in oral expression to explain processes and procedures, and the ability to make decisions and resolve problems or discrepancies is required.  Experience and knowledge of computer applications and software is required.  Must possess the ability to multi-task and prioritize projects with deadline achievement.  Occasional travel between regional military installations and facilities including weekly day trips to Naval Air Station Whidbey Island is required. (Government car and ferry pass provided.) A valid Washington State driver’s license is required.  EEOE
