Flexible - Temporary up to 40 hrs a week, Dates of employment 6/24/16 – 9/15/16

Open to Teens (ages 16 - 18) - Dependents of active duty or retired military, active reservist or DoD civilian

Brief Description of Duties: This position is located at Naval Base Kitsap Child & Youth Programs. Incumbent provides care, oversight and accountability of children, youth and teens. Acts as role model for developmentally appropriate practices and classroom management techniques. Assists in the programming, planning and implementation of a variety of recurring and non-recurring activities that meets the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of each participant. Responsible for providing assistance in the oversight of activities and necessary services to authorized patrons, including general information on the use of facilities and equipment. Incumbent will assist with implementing and documenting the required USDA Food Program for the currently enrolled patrons and model family style dining for the children in their care. Ensures adherence to regulations and safety procedures. May assist in maintaining routine reports and/or perform clerical and/or general maintenance duties as needed.

Qualification Requirements: Incumbent must be between 16 to 18 years of age and a dependant of Active Duty, Retired Military, Active Reservist, or DoD Civilian personnel. Must be able to learn MWR/CYP policies, rules and regulations involving work areas, and have the ability to communicate orally and in writing. Knowledge of basic mathematics and the purpose of recreational equipment and activities are desired.

Conditions of Employment: Physical exertion is involved in standing and walking for long periods, some bending, stooping and lifting is required. Position requires constant vigilance to ensure maximum security for youth, patrons and employees in and around the facility. Work is performed indoors and outdoors with varied work schedules and occasional weekend and evening hours in accordance with the requirements of the program at hand.
