Bowling Equipment Repairer

Location: Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton Recreation Center

Pay Grade: NA-4819-085

Summary of Duties: Maintenance and repair of 6 lanes of bowling in a Recreation Center. Diagnoses malfunctioning equipment referring to manuals for diagrams and instructions. Follows manufacturers maintenance schedules. Duties to include oiling lanes, making repairs to pinsetters and lane repairs, logging preventative maintenance and repairs of machines and equipment. Maintains records tracking parts inventory. Mechanic must initiate requests for parts, supplies, and equipment as necessary for proper maintenance of the bowling equipment. Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently. Candidate will be responsible for housekeeping tasks to ensure appearance, cleanliness and safety of assigned spaces. Performs other mechanic, electrical and electronic work associated with bowling facility as time and capabilities permit.

Qualifications: Must have formal training in bowling equipment repair and maintenance or a minimum of two years practical experience in this field. AMF/Qubica or Brunswick certification and training desirable as experience, but not necessary. Skill in the use of hand tools and ability to perform limited preventive maintenance such as cleaning and oiling equipment and conditioning lane surfaces. Ability to use common cleaning materials and equipment and to safely operate and adjust bowling equipment. Must be able to communicate verbally and be able to take written instructions from the supervisor and manual. Must have a valid driver’s License and must have or obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within first 90 days of employment.

Conditions of Employment: Successful completion of National Agency (NACI) background check required. Must be able to lift and carry parts and assemblies weighing up to 40 pounds, occasionally will need push or pull assemblies weighing up to 100 pounds. This positions requires frequent stooping, bending and reaching and works in awkward places. Work is performed primarily indoors in adequately heated and lighted area. Exposure to loud noises, dust, grease, chemical cleaning solvents, and the possibility of cuts, bruises, abrasions, and electrical shock. Routine schedule is Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings and during special events which could fall on weekends or holidays.
