Car Wash Maintenance Mechanic

Brief Description of Duties: Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on MWR operated carwashes. Responsible on daily operational car wash practices by ensuring carwash facility, equipment, motors, machines, materials and tools are maintained, repaired and cleaned to accepted customer and industry standards. Performs preventative maintenance, analyzes, disassembles, installs, repairs, reassembles, and tests mechanical and electronic problems to complete carwash repairs as required. Ensures all aspects of carwash operations are in proper working order. Performs regularly scheduled equipment and facility inspections and maintenance. Reads and interprets equipment manuals, instructions, and work plans to perform services. Keeps carwash facilities, property, equipment, tools, supplies, and measuring devices clean and organized. Disposes of unserviceable equipment through proper channels. Meets Safety Data System standards; ensures equipment, work areas, and facilities comply with environmental and safety standards. Mitigates costs by suing warranties, evaluating services and products, and researching options for services, parts, and supplies. Provides budget input by advising supervisor of facility, equipment, maintenance, and repair shop needs.
Qualification Requirements: Requires either vocational training and certification in related areas and two years of practical on the job experience with car wash equipment assembly, installation, and repair OR three years of job related practical experience which includes at least one year of carwash maintenance and repair. Must have excellent mechanical background and knowledge of carwash equipment. Skillful of mechanical abilities and understanding of mechanical and electrical systems. Ability to read wiring diagrams and trouble shoot electrical issues using a Volt/Ohm meter. Ability to troubleshoot and replace or repair a wide variety of equipment by interpreting and applying manufacturer’s repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics, and safety manuals to repair equipment. Skilled with hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and electronic test equipment. Skilled in the use of a computer. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Conditions of Employment: Successful completion of National Agency Background (NACI) Check required. Incumbent must be able to work a variety of shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays. Work is performed in all types of weather as well as inside of buildings. Incumbent is frequently exposed to drafts, noise, fumes, dirt, dust, grease, and fluids that may cause irritation and possible electric shock, scrapes, burns and cuts. Employees must wear personal protective equipment when required. Musts wear personal protective equipment when required. Incumbent has the ability to lift supplies or equipment weighing up to 70 pounds without assistance. Must have a valid state driver’s license. Must be able to obtain and maintain the following certifications within ninety (90) days of hire: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification and First Aid Certification.
