Supervisory Accounting Technician
Location: Fleet & Family Readiness - Service Center, Keyport

Brief Description of Duties: This position is located at the Fleet and Family Readiness Service Center, Business Operations Department. The primary purpose of the work is to provide technical expertise in accounting practices and supervise Accounting Technicians. The accounting function includes examining, verifying, and maintaining complex accounting transactions which involve a number of different programs, extensive subdivision of accounts, and frequent and varied adjustments to accounts. Position also serves as liaison between serviced organizations and higher headquarters. Directly supervises up to ten accounting technicians; responsible for training, supervising, scheduling and evaluating employees.
Qualification Requirements: Position requires a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in accounting, finance, business or other related area. Equivalent specialized experience may be substituted for education requirement. Requires an in-depth or broad knowledge of non-appropriated fund (NAF) accounting procedures and techniques to understand and work with a total accounting system which involves multiple programs that generate a large variety of transactions. Work must stand up to audit and inspection and demonstrate regulatory compliance. Position requires skill in applying extensive and diverse accounting regulations, operations, and procedures. Also requires skill in the use of automated system general ledger and subsidiary accounts, as well as, skill in effective communication techniques, both oral and written.
