Summary of Duties: Performs a variety of basic tasks requiring moderately heavy physical effort. Duties to include the following: loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from trucks. Using shovel, digs ditches where grading and sloping is not required. Runs hand and powered lawnmowers which do not require very heavy physical effort. Clears small trees and bushes using hatchet, handsaw, or clipper. May shovel snow sand or dirt from sidewalks. Moves and arranges furniture and equipment as directed. Collects and empties garbage cans, burns garbage and trash. Washes and waxes cars and trucks by hand or using powered buffer. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Ability to operate, control, and clean heavy power equipment to work safely with heavy tools. Ability to provide continual care and attention both to avoid accidents and to finish work properly. Prior job experience or on-the-job training is normally required to gain this ability. Ability to satisfactorily complete background checks to include a National Agency Check with Written Inquiries (NACI).
Conditions of Employment: Exerts very heavy physical effort in doing such tasks as frequently lifting and moving objects weighing over 50 lbs, running power mowers on grades or pushing heavy wheelbarrow loads of cement, etc. Work indoors may expose to drafts, noise, dust and dirt and require standing for long periods. Must wear issued protective gear. Outdoor work is performed in all kinds of weather.
