Pay Grade: NF-0101-04

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This position is located at an installation Fleet and Family Support Center. The incumbent serves as the FFSC Counseling and Advocacy Services Supervisor. The incumbent provides leadership, direction, supervision, guidance, consultation, assistance and coordination for all aspects of counseling and advocacy services at the FFSC.Provides direct supervision/consultation and/or clinical oversight of clinical services where non-compliance with Navy credentialed supervision requirements may be in question. Supervises staff assigned to the FAR unit including, clinical counselors and educators. Organizes, sets and monitors workflow of the clinical unit. Ensures that required educational programs are conducted as outlined by instructions. Maintains records and statistical data for required reports. Analyzes, evaluates, and utilizes the data supplied by formal /informal needs assessments and surveys as a basis of planning new and improved family service programs.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: A Master’s Degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education; or A Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a Doctoral degree in Psychology or LPC. A current state license or certification that provides legal authority to provide clinical services as an independent practitioner. A minimum of two years full-time post masters supervised clinical experience in a clinical setting. A minimum of one year post Master’s clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of child abuse/neglect and/or spouse abuse. Knowledge of professional assessment and diagnosis of the individual and the family. In-depth knowledge of the principles and practices of social work or psychology, counseling techniques, and knowledge of Navy and civilian communities.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Candidate must successfully complete a formal background check and maintain security suitability requirements. Regular and recurring work performed sitting at a desk and sitting in conferences and meetings. Work involves dealing with sensitive, controversial and emotional issues. Occasional travel outside the local commuting area may be required. May be required to deliver services onboard vessels.
