This position provides quality customer service to all eligible patrons. Employee privileges include access to base facilities such as gyms recreation centers, restaurants,Navy Exchangeand discount tickets to sporting and entertainment events.Signon bonus of $500 after 90 days of continuous employment.
Brief Description of Duties: As a Lead Recreation Assistant, must be able to assist with the daily operations of multiple fitness facilities. Acts as Ambassador of the program and is knowledgeable about sports, fitness and aquatic programs, activities and events and other Fleet and Family Readiness program areas. Operates a point of sales system and various other computer software programs in order to receive payments for admission, class/programs registration, issuing membership cards, making facility reservations and recording/tracking data. Operates a commercial washer and dryer as needed to keep towels, uniforms, soft goods clean and dry for issue. Assists with the oversight of the fitness center gear issue function, two car wash facilities and all other facets of a facility (i.e. grounds, outbuildings, workout areas, locker rooms, etc.Submits and monitors BOSC contractor service tickets, submits various weekly/monthly date reports timely and accurately. Develops employee work schedules for manager approval. Ensures adequate staff is present for shift to include remote fitness centers and schedule events. Assists with the supervision of personnel in the absence of the facility manager. Provides on the job training to new employees and serves as subject matter expert for applicable computer programs used in the facility operations. Instructs employees of specific tasks and job techniques and makes available established written instructions, reference materials and supplies needed. Prepares monthly userdata report to submit to manager. Assists with facility maintenance to include grounds, janitorial, safety/sanitation and repair.Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements: Must have one year of experience with cash handling and operating a point of sales system. Must possess organizational skills. Must possess a customer oriented personality to include tact and diplomacy in order to communicate with both personnel and patrons. Must possess the skill to lead a group. Must be proficient in oral and written communication in order follow and provide direction. Possess the skill of being able to render decisions and ability to influence others in obtaining cooperation and assistance. Must possess proficient computer skills in order to work with computer software programs, i.e. Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook and Internet Explorer. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to obtain CPR, AED and first aid certification within the 90 days of being appointed to the position. Conditions of Employment: Successful completion of National Agency Background (NACI) Check required.Work schedule may occasionally vary due to operational requirements. TypicalWork Schedule is from Sat/Sun 0730-1600, Mon-Wed 1100-1930, Thurs/Fri Off day. This position must be able to work a variety of shifts to include nights, special events, weekends and holidays. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors under varied weather conditions. Must have a valid driver’s license. This position is required to do considerable standing, bending, stooping, walking, pushing, reaching, climbing and lifting of objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
