Location: Naval Air Station Whidbey Island - Gallery Golf Course

Pay Grade: NA-5003-04

This position is in charge of maintenance and repair of fitness and recreational equipment at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Gallery Golf Course. Employee privileges include access to base facilities such as gyms, recreation centers, restaurants, discount tickets to sporting and entertainment events, and shopping privileges at the Navy Exchange.

Summary of Duties: This position is located in the Fleet & Family Readiness Division at Whidbey Island Gallery Golf Course. Incumbent operates manual and power equipment (mowers, deifiers, and fertilizers) in mowing fairways, roughs, tees and greens; changing cups, tee markers, and ball washers. Responsibilities may include assisting in fertilizing and aerating greens and fairways and in preparation and construction of special type landscaping related to golf courses. Assist in performing preventative maintenance and minor repair on manual and powered mowers and other mechanical equipment related to the care and maintenance of golf course facilities. On a periodic and non-recurring basis may be required to operate field type tractor, pick-up trucks and other related equipment on a fill in type basis. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: General knowledge and experience in operating small riding type, self propelled, or manual operated mowers, aerators, fertilizers, etc. and performing routine operator type maintenance on such. Ability to complete assignments involving several tasks or processes which require remembering directions, sequences, etc. Have the knowledge and ability to perform seasonal gardening tasks.

Conditions of Employment: Ability to satisfactorily complete background checks to include a National Agency Check with Written Inquiries (NACI). A valid state driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle. Work requires frequent walking, standing, pushing of carts and wheelbarrows, bending and stooping. Occasionally climbs ladders to prune or trim vegetation and frequently lifts heavy objects such as bags of fertilizer, seed, etc., weighing occasionally over 50 pounds. To ensure compliance with an applicable preliminary nationwide injunction, which may be supplemented, modified, or vacated, depending on the course of ongoing litigation, the Federal Government will take no action to implement or enforce the COVID-19 vaccination requirement pursuant to Executive Order 14043 on Requiring Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccination for Federal Employees. Therefore, to the extent a Federal job announcement includes the requirement that applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 pursuant to Executive Order 14043, that requirement does not currently apply. Federal agencies may request information regarding the vaccination status of selected applicants for the purposes of implementing other workplace safety protocols, such as protocols related to masking, physical distancing, testing, travel, and quarantine.
