What to Expect:
- This position is located at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Child & Youth Programs. Incumbent provides care, oversight and accountability of children, youth and teens
- Acts as role model for developmentally appropriate practices and classroom management techniques. Assists in the programming, planning and implementation of a variety of recurring and non-recurring activities that meets the physical, social, emotional andcognitive needs of each participant
- Responsible for providing assistance in the oversight of activities and necessary services to authorized patrons, including general information on the use of facilities and equipment
- Ensures adherence to regulations and safety procedures. May assist in maintaining routine reports and/or perform clerical and/or general maintenance duties as needed
What to Know:
- Incumbent must be between 16 to 18 years of age and a dependent of Active Duty, Retired Military, Active Reservist, or DoD Civilian personnel
- Must be able to learn MWR/CYP policies, rules and regulations involving work areas, and have the ability to communicate orally and in writing
- Knowledge of basic mathematics and the purpose of recreational equipment and activities are desired
Conditions of Employment:
- Physical exertion is involved in standing and walking for long periods, some bending, stooping and lifting is required
- Position requires constant vigilance to ensure maximum security for youth, patrons and employees in and around the facility
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors with varied work schedules and occasional weekend and evening hours in accordance with the requirements of the program at hand
